We take our fundraising very seriously here at FSB Insurance Service, it’s no joke for us. That’s why we’re so determined to meet our promise of raising a whopping £5,000 for our amazing charity of choice this year, HeartnSoul.

HeartnSoul are an award-winning creative arts company and charity. They believe in the power and talents of people with learning disabilities, providing opportunities for people to discover, develop and share this power and talent as widely as possible. They also have a lot of fun!

This Halloween our brokers, Syria and Jordan joined FSB Insurance Service Managing Director David Perry on a freaky and frightening 43km sponsored walk through London.

It started well with the FSB Insurance Service team in high spirits and raring to go at midday in Oval, London home of the famous Cricket ground. Smiles all round as they set off for the milestone halfway mark in the City of London.

By 3pm the team had hit Trafalgar Square, blisters notwithstanding, they made good progress and were attacking their challenge with a smile.

 

 

Jordan, Sylwia and David were pushing on and grinning through, setting off on the last leg, heading to Piccadilly Circus first.

 

 

“When we got to the 3rd stop, we had the longest stretch left to go and I couldn’t imagine how I was going to keep it up for a few hours. Both of my feet had blisters which had burst on the last stretch so I was in a lot of pain. However, a bit of willpower and remembering it was for a good cause and managed to plod along for another 2/3 hours. Despite the pain it was all worthwhile in the end!”

The team pressed on, now close to the final goal and inspired by the incredible work that HeartnSoul do. London was shrouded in the darkness of night, adding to the spooky nature of the challenge.

Through Piccadilly Circus and onwards the FSB Insurance Service gang turned their determination to the last and most daunting stretch of their epic effort.

 

 

Finally, aching, blistered but satisfied, the team saw the Oval come into sight and relief was felt all round, they had achieved their goal, and brought themselves closer to their fundraising goal, at the time of writing only £600 short of their target of £5,000.

“When you do these ‘Walks’, you get lulled into a false sense of security by that adjective. Let’s just say that, by the end, the feeling that you can’t actually walk anymore is more than overridden by the joy of seeing all of the donations pouring in.”
