Why work here

FSB Insurance Service helps UK small businesses understand risk and make informed insurance decisions. It’s regulated work that matters, so we keep things clear, professional, and focused on doing the job properly.

We’re a friendly, close-knit team. When work gets busy, we help each other. Leadership is clear and human, and people are supported to learn and improve.

What it’s really like to work here

  • We help each other when workloads fluctuate (because they do)
  • Leadership is clear, fair, and human
  • Support and training are part of the job
  • Mistakes are treated as challenges to overcome together, not reasons to blame
  • We work closely together as one team (we sit in the same office)

You don’t need to arrive fully confident. It’s normal to feel nervous at the start, regulated roles take time to learn, and structured training is built in.

Who this suits

Who tends to do well here
  • Curious, diligent, and friendly
  • Comfortable learning and asking questions
  • Clear and thoughtful in how they communicate
  • Enjoy working as part of a close team
  • Happy taking ownership of their role, with support
This environment may not suit everyone
  • Roles here involve personal responsibility rather than constant direction
  • Work is collaborative, not isolated
  • Expectations are discussed openly, so self-awareness matters
  • Team contribution is important, people don’t work in silos

Training & development

Training isn’t an afterthought here, it’s part of how we work.

  • Professional qualifications, including support towards CII
  • Insurer-led training and updates (including sessions with insurers like Aviva and Zurich)
  • Practical learning through our day-to-day work and systems (including Acturis)
  • Structured onboarding for regulated roles, plus ongoing development as regulation and risks evolve

If you’re willing to learn, communicate clearly, and work well with a team, you’ll be supported properly.

Working in an FCA-regulated business

FSB Insurance Service is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

In practice, this means our work is held to clear professional standards. Accuracy, transparency, and treating customers fairly matter, and we take that responsibility seriously.

You’ll be trained, supervised, and supported to meet those standards. You won’t be expected to guess, cut corners, or “just know” what to do.

For many people, working in a regulated environment is a positive, it brings structure, clarity, and confidence to the work you do.

Your first 90 days

  • Weeks 1–2: Structured onboarding, systems training, shadowing colleagues, insurer sessions
  • Month 1: Supervised work, regular check-ins, building confidence
  • Months 2–3: Increasing independence, feedback, and ownership of your role

You’ll never be expected to know everything at once, learning is supported and paced properly.

A typical day might include

  • Speaking with clients and following up queries
  • Updating and managing work in Acturis
  • Liaising with insurers
  • Team conversations across the room
  • Time set aside for learning or training

Local employer commitment

We’re based in Croydon and believe being a good employer is part of being a good local business.

This aligns with the Croydon Good Employer Charter, which focuses on:

  • Pay Living Wage
  • Employ Local
  • Buy Local
  • Include All

Support & leadership

  • Weekly feedback & huddle from team leaders
  • Quarterly reviews from team leaders
  • Quarterly feedback from the CEO
  • Open, daily communication across the team

If someone is struggling, the first response is to work with them to identify the issue and fix it properly.

What good looks like here

  • Taking ownership of your work
  • Asking questions early
  • Communicating clearly with colleagues and clients
  • Helping the team, not just yourself

Pay & fairness

We pay fairly for the role and review pay properly, not casually. We focus on long-term value, not short-term fixes.
